“In April 2020, a line to produce three-layer disposable medical masks was launched. As for now, the line's capacity allows to provide about 60 thousand masks per day. The masks manufactured here are supplied mainly to organizations and enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region. As soon as the company will have received a registration certificate, deliveries to health facilities across the Sverdlovsk region and adjacent regions will start,” said Alexey Orlov.
He pointed out that Medsintez arranged quality control of its masks, the practice that can be propagated to other mask manufacturers too.
According to Sergey Perestoronin, the Sverdlovsk Region's Minister of Industry and Science, the region currently produces 650 thousand disposable masks.
“As of March 16, 45 thousand disposable masks were produced in the Sverdlovsk region. Today, there are 11 production lines at five enterprises where 650 thousand masks are produced. The demand from the region's medical specialists is 100 thousand ones per day,” told Sergey Perestoronin.
According to Alexander Petrov, Chairman of Medsintez Board of Directors, the company, within the anti-coronavirus campaign, develops other solutions too. For example, Triazavirin, an antiviral drug, will undergo clinical trials for effectiveness against COVID.
"Triazavirin is tested for the new coronavirus infection. Now, the medicine is going to enter clinical trials involving humans, which will allow mentioning the coronavirus on the label. By now, the production of this antiviral drug has increased significantly, about three times. During one shift, the plant can produce 7 thousand packages. If necessary, we are willing to work in a three-shift mode,” Alexander Petrov said.
The plant received federal support to produce the drug's substance. The Industry Development Fund provided a low-interest loan in the amount of 210 million roubles.
